BRUDERHEIM, November 20, 2019, Canadian Rockies Hemp Corporation (“CRHC” or the “Company”) today announced that it has hired Cameron Parsons as Head Agronomist for CRHC.
Cameron Parsons was born, raised and currently resides in Gibbons, AB. Having worked in agriculture since 2010, he started out driving an ammonia truck for McEwen’s Fuels & Fertilizers.
“I always had an interest in agriculture, but I never had the opportunity to work in the industry until I started driving for McEwen’s. I quickly discovered my passion for agriculture and working with farmers and enrolled in the University of Alberta’s Ag program.”
While training as an agronomist at McEwen’s Fuels & Fertilizers, Cameron completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, specializing in Crop Sciences and graduated with distinction. Since then he has worked as a Territory Agronomist and Certified Crop Advisor (CAA) in good standing, since 2015.
“My favorite thing about my job is being able to help farmers grow better crops – finding out what is holding them back and seeing the results that come from implementing good practices.”
Spencer Tighe, COO of CRHC, stated, “We are very excited to bring Cam on board. Finding someone with his skill set and enthusiasm that is local and has worked with many farmers in the area is a real win for our growers and our team. Cam will be able to provide strong support for our growers and continue to develop our own research for cultivation on our trial sites”.
As Head Agronomist Cameron will be a core member of the CRHC management team, responsible for supporting growers, agricultural institutions and the farming community, as well as management of acres, crop variety and yield enhancement.
“I am very excited about the hemp industry. After working for many years with traditional crops I feel like hemp is the ticket we have been looking for. It’s going to help break disease and insect cycles, and do something really positive for farmers. Hemp is the first real opportunity for farmers in our area to add a new profitable and sustainable crop to our current rotation, and I am excited to learn what it takes to grow really good hemp and work with our farmers to do exactly that”.
CRHC is an innovative agribusiness located in Alberta, working with farmers to grow Canadian Hemp and processing hemp into fibre, hurd and other by-products. From farm consulting and agronomy, to full custom harvesting services, CRHC supports farmers in adding hemp to their crop rotation.
CRHC’s hemp processing facility in Bruderheim, AB is on track to be operational in February 2020 and will be capable of processing 50,000 acres of hemp annually. Locally owned and operated, CRHC’s team has a diverse background in agronomy, medical cannabis cultivation, industrial design and engineering, land development, legal, pharmaceuticals, marketing and government relations.
